Why plastic is not fantastic?

Are these solutions?

Bioplastic and Green plastic is plastic created with renewable sources such as corn, rice, etc. with the addition of compounds such as PLA (poly lactic acid). Although claiming to be biodegradable and compostable; these plastics can only be degraded in commercial facilities under certain conditions and cannot be recycled with normal petroleum based plastics. To be recycled, the plastic must be sorted from each other with specialized equipment which many processing facilities don’t have.

In September 2017, the Guardian concluded through tests that billions of people globally were drinking water contaminated by micro plastic. In the respective tests, 80% of the samples taken were found to be contaminated with micro plastic pollution. Micro plastics pose a serious threat to not only humans, but also our wildlife as the overtime consumption of micro plastics is detrimental to the health of both humans and animals as the breakdown of micro plastics results in the release of harmful chemicals and pollutants. Hence, in our production we exclude all types of plastic be it Bioplastic, reusable or petroleum based to ensure we do not contribute the growing issue of micro plastic pollution.

If the straws are buried in soil, it takes about 4-6 months to degrade. Results may vary depending on the factors where the product is disposed (i.e., humidity, rain, content of microorganisms in the soil).

BAMBOO Straws are made from 100% natural bamboo fibre and starch.

Our bamboo straws are optimally stored in cool dry environments.
